Scottish Islands Federation Marine Litter Group Survey

Posted on

Just recently we reported that our friends at the Scottish Islands Federation has appointed a Network Development Officer for their Marine Litter Group, an initiative to tackle the alarming growth in marine debris washing up on our shores.

Liz Peel, the new officer has published a survey aimed at individuals, community groups, businesses and organisations who carry out local beach cleans and similar activities to clean up our shores. This is designed to see the wider picture at what is being done across the west coast and islands by volunteers and groups.

Liz as asked if we can widely circulate the survey, it only takes a few minutes and will help inform future policy, local resources and possible funding.

Our supporter Peggy Semler has been in touch with aquaculture firm Mowi who will be supplying contact details for the locations where there are facilities to collect oversized marine debris. We will update as soon as possible.
