The Species on the Edge Youth Panel

Posted on

A message from the Species on the Edge team at Nature Scot.

Good morning,
My name is Eilidh, I am the Communications Officer for Species on the Edge, a new multi-partner species conservation programme taking place across Scotland’s coasts and islands. We are very excited to be opening applications for our Youth Panel in just over 2 weeks’ time, and I wanted to share the opportunity with you as I thought it might be of interest to you and your network.

The Species on the Edge Youth Panel will bring together 14 young people between the ages of 16 & 25 from across the Species on the Edge project areas to discuss issues relating to the natural environment and their communities. Panellists will meet at least four times a year online, and will have the opportunity to join a fully funded spring residential.

Through this experience, panel members will: meet new people and learn from experts within the conservation sector; develop their skills, confidence and employability; receive training; and be supported in developing their own project to encourage others to connect with nature.

We are hoping that news of this opportunity can reach a wide range of young people with a breadth of experience. Whether a young person has experience of conservation volunteering or none at all, as long as they have a passion and commitment to standing up for nature, they are encouraged to apply!

We would really appreciate you sharing this opportunity with your network, perhaps on social media, by email, using posters etc. We can be found on Twitter (@SpeciesEdge) and Facebook. All the information about the opportunity can be found here:

https://www.nature.scot/doc/species-edge-youth-panel.

We also have a suite of promotional assets such as posters, flyers, and assets for social media, so if you would like me to send any of these over to you, please do let me know. I have attached one of our posters. Please feel free to get in touch with any questions.

Thank you and best wishes,
Eilidh
