Skye Beach Cleaning Update from Emily Johns
Good morning
Some exciting updates for you.

1. From the 20th to 22nd April we have a purpose-built beach clean boat coming to Skye in order to remove waste from beaches that are inaccessible by road. I need to give them a list of beaches to go to and I need your help to identify these. My plan is to organise sessions for the waste to be gathered in advance and then taken away by the boat team. Please let me know what remote areas need doing most, and any areas you will be able to help sort in advance of them coming.

2. Ocean Plastic Pots and Keep Britain Tidy will be collecting Rope, Net, String and pieces of Fishbox around the 28th April. I am currently confirming a storage location for bulk bags of these in the south of the island (main collection point will be Mallaig). In any cleans you do, please keep rope etc separate. The beach clean boat (above) is fully aware of this and will be collecting piles separately.

If you are able to collect and store any rope/nets/string between now and then, please do and let me know if you have large amounts. I can then arrange collection of this.

3. ***Sleat Beach Clean day - 22nd April. As some of you will be aware, a beach clean skip will be available at Torabhaig on the 22nd April.  If you know anyone in  Sleat Peninsula that wants to get involved then please do tell them. ***

4. Talisker Bay & Ardtreck Clean - 28th April. The Talisker Distillery are running a clean at Talisker Bay, and Ardtreck point and want as many volunteers as possible! Please do share this one!

5. Finally - there will be some larger-scale cleans and surveys happening in June and July when the British Army Force Atlantic Rowing team come to help out, as well as a research team from Loughborough University!
More updates to come on this.

As ever please let me know if you have questions, ideas, or there is anything I can support on!

Thanks
Emily
