South Skye Nature Festival 24-26th July 2026

Sleat Nature Group is pleased to announce the South Skye Nature Festival: a weekend celebrating the amazing nature we have here on Skye.

With over 30 activities lined up, almost all of them free of charge, there's something for everyone, including the kids!

Fancy a guided walk looking for signs of otters, or one to look at our incredible ferns? Fancy a wander through Scottish rainforest while learning how nature finds its way into Gaelic place names?

Or how about a guided landscape walk, a rockpool bio-blitz, a bumblebee safari, a pond-dipping session, or even an early morning bird spotting session or workshop up-cycling beach-litter rope into your own floor mat?

There'll be demonstrations of how electrofishing is used for salmon and trout surveys, how birds are ringed, how dolphins and seals are rescued, and shorewatch training for eager whale watchers. There’ll even be seakayak outings with a nature focus throughout the weekend.

Or drop in to listen to our expert speakers celebrating the amazing birds of Skye, or the weird and wonderful sounds of Skye’s wildlife. How about hearing about species re-introductions in the Highlands, or the importance of biodiversity globally, or about Skye's secretive corncrake.

Oh and yes, there'll be music and a major film screening too!

All this revolving around a festival hub at the wonderful An Crubh community centre and cafe, with displays and booths throughout the weekend from: Highlands & Islands Climate Hub, Scottish Entanglement Alliance, Skye Beach Cleans, British Divers Marine Life Rescue, Fishing For Litter, Amphibian & Reptile Conservation, Bumblebee Conservation Trust, Scottish Marine Animal Stranding Scheme, Trees For Life, Skye & Lochalsh Rivers Trust, British Trust for Ornithology .. and more.
